“There are hot glue dots on the bottom of her socks in an attempt to help her maintain traction or else her rear legs will slide apart and she will fall.” — Matt, Tink’s Dad

Tink was a runner, a live wire, and could never sit still for more than the length of a nap. Boxers have so much energy. She has had several surgeries over the years to remove small tumors as well as 2 large tumors removed from her back legs. Those included the removal of some muscle. She healed up well and was her old hyper self again.

What started up an occasional rear paw that would drag on the concrete as she walked, has now escalated to the point that she cannot walk for more than a few steps without falling. Once standing stationary, although she wobbles, she can remain standing. Once she starts to walk, she staggers and the rear legs cannot be controlled. She falls. She is suffering from Degenerative Myelopathy (DM).

Her attitude is good, she has not been defeated, and still attacks her toys with attitude. She tries to chase squirrels and has a great disposition. She now realizes that she will fall if she tries to bolt after something, but still tries to. Her front legs are strong, she is fearless, and she has heart.

I know that I know that she will run again if she only had a wheelchair. Her disease will eventually not allow this, but for now, I’d like to bring some freedom and joy back into her life. I am in no financial condition to purchase a wheelchair at this time.
